Eileen M. Powell, of Norfolk, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, 
surrounded by loved ones, on July 10, 2021, at the age of 72.
Eileen was preceded in death by her father, LCDR Raymond H. J. Powell, and her 
brother, Raymond H. J. Powell, Jr. She is survived by her mother, artist Eleanor 
A. Powell; sisters, Ann (Larry), Susan, Betsy, Jane (Pat); brothers, Rick, Michael 
(Christie), Daniel (Chris), Stephen, Martin; and her much loved nephews, nieces 
and great-nephews.
Eileen attended Holy Trinity and Sacred Heart Elementary Schools and graduated 
from Norfolk Catholic, class of 1966. She earned a BS in Psychology from ODU. 
Eileen worked in Accounting and HR for the Virginian-Pilot, Colonna Shipyard and 
Fara Insurance.
Eileen was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, volunteering 
extensively, including teaching Sunday School, parish council and managing the 
soup kitchen for several years.
The Powell Family wishes to thank the staff of Province Place of DePaul for the 
loving care they gave Eileen during her 2½ year stay.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 10:00AM at Sacred 
Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, July 19, 
2021, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. 
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen, 520 Graydon Ave., 
Norfolk 23517.
