Maurice was a devoted father, a loving son, a supportive brother, and a loyal friend. His kind heart, generous spirit, and warm presence left a lasting impression on anyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether through a simple act of kindness or a shared moment of laughter, Maurice had a unique ability to make everyone feel like family. A proud graduate of Indian River High School, Maurice went on to attend Tidewater Community College, where he studied welding, a path inspired by his father. As he explored his own strengths and ambitions, his entrepreneurial spirit led him down a different road where he could work for himself and take full ownership of his craft. He launched a self-employed career in home improvement and remodeling, pouring passion and precision into every project. From home renovations to custom builds, Maurice took pride in his ability to create something out of nothing. Beyond his technical skills, Maurice was also an exceptional cook. He had a remarkable talent for bringing flavors together, often experimenting with recipes and ingredients to make each dish uniquely his own. Whether grilling outdoors or cooking in the kitchen, Maurice cooked with his heart. For him, cooking wasn't just a task; it was an expression of love and a way to care for others. It was how he celebrated family. In his free time, Maurice enjoyed fishing, whether alone or in the company of others. Being near the water brought him peace and helped clear his mind. In those quiet moments, he felt most at ease. Fishing was more than just a hobby; it held a deep emotional connection, reminding him of his father. It became his way of staying close to his father's spirit and honoring the bond they shared even in his absence. Maurice leaves behind his beloved children, two daughters, Arielle Powell and Daryn Powell, and a son, Jayden Powell, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his loving mother, brother, two sisters, nephew, grandparents, and a host of uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Though we wish we had more time with him, the impact Maurice made will never be forgotten. His warmth, generosity, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
