Hope B. Powell, 95, died Nov. 15, 1998, in Virginia Beach.

Born in Newsoms, Va., she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and 
Catholic Daughters of Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank E. 
Powell, and her sons, William J. Powell and Leonard Goodwin.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne P. Rudiger and husband, Burnley Rudiger Jr., 
of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, Craig Rudiger and wife, Jill, of 
Chesapeake, Burnley Rudiger II, and wife, Mary, Kathryn Snell, and husband, J.R., 
Deborah Powell, Jacqueline Powell, David Powell, William J. Powell Jr. and wife, 
Mary; two daughters-in-law, Julia C. Powell and Sue Goodwin, all of Virginia 
Beach; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 
by Father Julian B. Goodman. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The 
family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, today 
from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The 
American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30329.
