Virginian-Pilot December 14, 1973
NORFOLK - Virginius Francis (Buddy) Powell, 90, of 2302 Lafayette Blvd., a native 
of Portsmouth and a Norfolk resident 50 years, died Thursday in a hospital.
He was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Rita D. Collamer of Norfolk and Sister Andrea 
Daugherty, Daughters of Charity, St. Vincent DePaul, Baltimore; and a neph¬ew, 
Lawrence J. Daugherty Jr. of Virginia Beach.
The Office of the Dead will be said tonight at 8 in H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Christ the 
King Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
