William H. Powell Sr., 67, of 809 Johnson avenue, who died in a local hospital 
Jan. 11, was given final rites Sunday at First Calvary Baptist Church.

The Rev. C. E. Griffin officiated at the service.  Burial was in Calvary 
Cemetery under direction of Citizens Funeral Home.

A native of Norfolk, Mr. Powell retired after working 40 years for Virginia 
Electric and Power Company.

His survivors include a son, William H. Powell Jr.,;  three daughters, Mrs. Rosa 
Mae Robinson of Norfolk, Mrs. Ida Dempsey of New York and Mrs. Pauline Williams 
of Roxboro, MA;  two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Church and Mrs. Lucille Ward of New 
York;  two brothers, Jack Powell of Philadelphia and John Powell of New York;  
eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
