Virginian Pilot January 30, 1910

Willis E. Powers died at his home, No. 113 Hughes Street, at midnight Friday 
after an illness of one week in the 52d year of his age. The deceased was a 
native of North Carolina, but had been a resident of Norfolk for eighteen years. 
He is survived by a widow and seven children-- Mrs. Carroll M. Smith, Mrs. Lydia 
C. Rudiger, Miss Clara V. Powers, Miss Ida E. Powers, Miss Effie A. Powers, Miss 
Katie E. Powers and W. Elwell Powers, all of Norfolk. The funeral will be held 
from his late residence at 3 o'clock this afternoon by the Rev. J.T. Riddick of 
Newport News. The interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
