Virginian Pilot February 8, 1978

Colon L. Powers Sr., 75, of 1401 Rylands Road, the husband of Mrs. Kathryn 
Morgan Powers and a native of Aurora, N.C., died Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. in a 
hospital.
He lived in this area for 50 years and was retired from the Ford Motor Co.  
He was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Challie Jane Garrison of Newport 
News and Mrs. Ruth Whealton of Chesapeake; two sons, Colon L. Powers Jr. of 
Norfolk and James W. Powers of Virginia Beach; a brother, Hugh Powers of 
Rocky Mount, N.C.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Fletcher C. Hutcheson.  Burial will be in 
Magnolia Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 
8:30
