Virginian-Pilot June 1, 1943
Mrs. Fannie Elizabeth Powers, aged 86, wife of Martin J. Powers, native of 
Pittsburgh, Pa., and a resident of Norfolk for the past 25 years, died Monday 
morning at 3:54 o’clock at the residence, 921 Boissevain avenue. Besides her 
husband, Martin J. Powers, she is survived by a brother, Jacob Stein, of 
Pittsburgh; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Frelich and Mrs. Laura Briet, also of 
Pittsburgh and a nephew, Nicholas J. Powers of Norfolk. The body will be taken 
from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, to Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church, of which she was a member, for funeral services Wednesday morning 
at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be 
held at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, tonight at 8 o’clock.
