He had worked for many years for the E.T. Gresham Company, Inc. and the F.S. Royster Company. A native of Currituck County, N.C., he had lived in South Norfolk for 64 years. His parents were Thomas H. and Mrs. Elizabeth Hampton Poyner. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Annie Liverman Poyner. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Herbert D. Curtis, Miss Pearl Poyner and Mrs. C.L. Williams, Jr.; two sons, Cecil H. Poyner and Benjamin Thomas Poyner, Jr.; a sister, Miss Isabelle Elizabeth Poyner, all of South Norfolk; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
