Retired Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. William McKinley Prentiss Sr., 90, of the 5100 block 
of Cape Henry Ave., died July 22, 1992, in a hospital.

Lt. Cmdr. Prentiss was born in Bethesda, Md. He had retired from the Coast Guard 
after 35 years. He was the widower of Marie F. Prentiss.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary M. McKinney of Chocowinity, N.C., Patricia 
M. Duke, of Norfolk and Ellen M. Adams, of Fayetteville, N.C.; a son, William M. 
Prentiss Jr., of Virginia Beach; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. J. Michael Breslin. Burial will be in St. 
Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today 
in the funeral home.
