Norfolk - Robert "Neil" Pretlow Sr., 85, affectionately known as "Pop", passed 
away peacefully Friday, September 9, 2016. He was born to the late Annie (Fitts) 
and Ralph Pretlow Sr. on August 11, 1931. Neil will be reunited with his parents, 
his wife, Barbara Belardo Pretlow, and brother, Ralph Pretlow Jr. Neil's memory 
lives on through his two daughters, Lynette James (Joe); Barbara Young (David); 
three sons, Robert N. Pretlow Jr. (Oretha); Anthony Pretlow (Andrea); Jose Pretlow 
(Linda); a sister, (caregiver) Marion Pretlow; his grandchildren and great-
grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends. A viewing will be held on 
Monday, Sept. 19 from 3-6:30 pm at Metropolitan Funeral Services, Granby Chapel, 
followed by a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on 
Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 12 pm at the Basilica of St. Mary Church, 232 
Chapel Street, Norfolk. Interment will immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 
Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of The 
Alzheimer's Society, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
