The Norfolk Virginian Pilot May 29, 1948
Samuel Bailey Pretlow, 62, Norfolk pharmacist, died yesterday following an 
operation at a Richmond hospital. He was a director of the Tidewater Retail 
Druggist Association of Virginia, and a member of the Registered Druggist 
Association of Norfolk.
A veteran of World War I, he served as a pharmacist with the A.E.F. Shortly 
before his death he was employed at the Tatem Pharmacy in Norfolk. He was a 
member of the Bethel Friends Meeting House of Southampton County.
Mr. Pretlow was the son of the late James Bailey Pretlow and Mrs. Maria Rawls 
Pretlow, of Southampton County. He is survived by his wife, Elishea Tatem 
Pretlow; a son, James, of Norfolk; two brothers, Joel, of Wilmington, N.C., and 
John, of Norfolk, and a sister, Mrs. W.J.M. Holland, Jr., of Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at the Cox Funeral Home, Norfolk, tomorrow at 4 
p.m. Burial will be at the Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley.
