PRITCHARD Body of Prominent Berkley Resident Arrived From Buffalo Lithia Yesterday WAS PROMINENT IN CITY AND SOCIAL LIFE The body of William G. Pritchard, 41 years old, who died at Buffalo Lithia Springs yesterday morning at 3:30 o'clock, arrived here on a special car over the Southern Railway yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock. The body was accompanied by his brothers, P.M. Pritchard and Raymond Pritchard, who were with him when he died. Plans were made Tuesday to bring Mr. Pritchard to his old home in Berkley, but his condition became so serious that it was impossible to take this step. From then on he became gradually worse. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. Pritchard was the son of the late P. Pritchard and Mrs. Sarah Pritchard. He was a native of Berkley, where the greater part of his life was spent, during which time he occupied a prominent place in public affairs. He was past commander of the United Confederation of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and also an active member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church and prominent in the administration of its affairs. Mr. Pritchard served Berkley ward in the council for one term and during his tenure of office secured many improvements for the ward and was regarded as an efficient servant of the people in the administration of the city's affairs. For many years he held important positions with the Clyde Steamship Company at Norfolk, Richmond, Newport News and Charleston, S.C., at the latter place holding the joint agency of the Clyde and the Mallory lines. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. (Miss) Kate Pritchard of Berkley and Mrs. W.H. Butt of Ocean View and four brothers, Samuel, Raymond, Wharton and P.M. Pritchard of Berkley. ****************************************************************** W.G. PRITCHARD'S FUNERAL TAKES PLACE TODAY The funeral of William G. Pritchard, who died at the Buffalo Lithia Springs, will take place at the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church this afternoon at 3 o'clock and will be attended by steamboat and transportation men in which circles he was widely known and by members of the city councils with whom he was formerly associated and by the Sons of Confederate Veterans of whom he was past commander of the Southern division, to say nothing of his large number of friends in private life. The Sons of Niemeyer-Shaw camp Berkley, have been called to assemble at the home of Commander Etheridge, Pine and Lee streets, this afternoon at 2:15 o'clock and will be joined by the Sons of Stonewall camp of Portsmouth and Pickett-Buchanan camp of Norfolk, who will attend the funeral in a body. The funeral services will be conducted by the pastor of the church, Rev. W.R. Flannagan, assisted by Rev. George J. Hobday, a former pastor and Dr. T. Claggett Skinner of Richmond, another former pastor and personal friend, providing he succeeds in arriving in time. The pallbearers, honorary and active, will be made up among the Sons of Confederate Veterans, transportation men, councilmen and others from the Masons. Burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
