She was born in Lynchburg, Va., the second child of five siblings, to the late Lawrence and Viola Stone. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, she married the late Ernest Alfonso Proctor and from this union had one daughter, Clemmie. A long-standing member of Grace Episcopal Church, she was active in the Altar Guild, Martin Bible Class, Daughters of The King, Episcopal Church Women, St. Helena's Guild, chairperson of the Presiding Bishops Fund, Seniors Choir, Church Women United and a volunteer at the Diocesan Center of Southern Virginia. Mrs. Proctor was an active member of the United Order of Tents, Southern District No. 1, and Huldar Tent. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Clemmie of Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughter, Paulette Ellis of Norfolk; a great-granddaughter, Janaia Anderson of Morrow, Ga.; Brian McNeill, fiance of Janaia; two sisters, Rebecca Williams of Norfolk and Emma Jeffries of Cherry Hill, N.J.; a son-in-law, Walter A. Davis Jr.; a brother-in-law, George Jeffries; nieces, Verline Jeffries, Kenya Pettiford and Janai Jeffries; nephews, Gary and George III; a great-nephew, Keson Graham; and a host of friends from all walks of life. A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Grace Episcopal Church by the Rev. Fr. Harold J. Cobb. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will be residing with Mrs. Rebecca Williams of E. 42nd Street. The family requests donations to the Altar Guild or to Daughters of The King Full Circle Program of Grace Church, in lieu of flowers.
