Purdie, aged 74, widow of Thomas S Purdie, and daughter of the late Dr. Joseph and Mrs. Helen Scott Atkinson, died at Salem yesterday morning at 11 o’clock. She was a native of Smithfield, and had spent practically her entire life in Norfolk. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth S. Purdie, of Lexington, and Merritt M. Purdie of Norfolk. Funeral services will be held at the residence of Finlay F. Ferguson, 816 Westover Avenue, Norfolk, tomorrow at 12 o’clock noon, with the Rev. C. Grier Davis, pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, of which Mrs. Purdie was a member, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Thursday March 7, 1935 Mrs. Emily Atkinson Purdie-Funeral services for Mrs. Purdie, widow of Thomas S. Purdie, whose death occurred Monday in Salem, were held at noon yesterday at the residence of Finlay F. Ferguson, 816 Westover Avenue, with the Rev. C. Greer Davis, pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, officiating. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery and pallbearers were John M. Reynolds, Arthur Humphries, Robert M. Hughes, Jr. H. W. Walker, Alex Bell, John Mitchell, Charles V. Cooke and Dr. Samuel A. Riddick. The casket was covered with a double cluster of Easter lilies and fern.
