George Purdie of 2612 Virginia Beach boulevard, a retired employee of
International Longshoreman's Association 12, died Feb. 15 at his home. Funeral
services were conducted Feb. 21 at Antioch Baptist Church, of which he was a
member, by the Rev. J. W. Matthews. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Graves
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Purdie, a native of Tarheel, NC, is survived by his mother, Mrs. Julia
Richardson; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Cleaves and Mrs. Doris Cooper of Norfolk; a
sister, Mrs. Lessie Richardson of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren and a
great-grandchild.
