The Virginian Pilot January 16, 1959


Norfolk-Henry Gilbert Purdy, 77, son of John and Mrs. Augusta Gilbert Purdy, 
died at the residence, 248 W. Ocean View Ave., Thursday at 5 a.m.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Emma M. Barnes, of Norfolk; a niece and two 
great nieces.
Mr. Purdy was a native of Canada, a resident of Baltimore most of his life and 
for the last six years had been a resident of Norfolk. He was a member of 
Local 1100, Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators and Paperhangers.
The body was taken from the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home to Cedar Grove 
Cemetery for graveside services Saturday at 11 a.m.
