Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, July 30, 1991
Mary Booker Purnell of the 100 block of Hough Ave., died July 28, 1991, in a
hospital.

Mrs. Purnell was born in Norfolk. She was the widow of Jerome Purnell and was a
member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Shirley Gross of Miami; two sons, Jerome
Purnell and Gennoah Purnell, both of Norfolk; a stepson, Burnette Purnell of
Philadelphia; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Mount Carmel Baptist Church by
the Rev C.V. Russell Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be
from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Riddick Funeral Service. Friends may join the
family at the residence. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
