Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, December 22, 1993 
Rae Holmes Purnell, 54, of the 300 block of W. 26th St., died Dec. 18, 1993, in
her home.

Survivors include her husband, Gernoah Purnell Sr. of Norfolk; two sons, Terry
Rayfield Holmes of Norfolk and Gernoah N. Purnell Jr. of Chesapeake; a brother,
Dr. Ernest A. Holmes of Fort Washington, Md.; an uncle, Robert Holmes of Newport
News; and two aunts, Lulla Scott Lewis and Dorothy Scott Thompson, both of Norfolk.

The funeral will be conducted at noon today in First Baptist Church Lamberts
Point by the Rev. A.C. Paige. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Pretlow &
Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is handling arrangements. The family will be at
555 Liberty St., Norfolk, Apartment 206.
