Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, August 10, 1999 
Marie Purvis of the 700 block of Easy St. died Aug. 7, 1999, at Sentara Leigh
Memorial Hospital.

Born in Norfolk, she was a retired nurse's aide from Public Health Hospital and
a member of St. Mary's Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. She was the widow
of William H. Purvis.

Survivors include a daughter, Marie P. Cuffee of Virginia Beach; a son, John H.
Purvis of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other
relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at St. Mary's Basilica of the
Immaculate Conception by Monsignor Walter Barrett. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery . The remains will be ready for viewing from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday
at Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. The family will assemble at
5340 Marlfield Drive at 11 a.m. for the procession.
