Quidley Commits Suicide At Police Headquarters Robert B. Quidley, 26 years old, living at 28 Franklin avenue, South Norfolk, committed suicide yesterday morning in a cell at the first precinct police station by hanging himself from the top of the cell with a leather belt. Quidley was dying when Turnkey Woodhouse at 8 o'clock yesterday morning went to collect the prisoners to go to Police Court. The dying man was cut down by the officer and rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital, but died on the way. Dr. R.S. Kight, city coroner, viewed the body and gave a certificate of suicide. He turned the body over to relatives. Quidley was arrested Monday by Patrolmen Becraft and Matter on the charge of being drunk after complaint had been made by J.T Morrison, 215 Bank Street, who claimed that Quidley had come to his house and threatened to shoot him. Quidley was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Zack Quidley, 28 Franklin avenue. South Norfolk. He is survived by a widow and one child, Jack Odell Quidley and his parents. The funeral will take place at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon at the residence of his parents. Services will be conducted by Rev. W.M. Black of the South Norfolk Baptist Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley.
