Born in Ayden, N.C., he was the second son of the late John and Roberta White Quinerly . He retired as a packer after 33 years of service from the Naval Air Rework Facility. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute St., Norfolk. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who also enjoyed gardening. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, he always gave time to others. Survivors include his wife, Vanetta; daughter, Phyllis Q. Joseph; sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Q. Branch and Mrs. Mary Q. Saunders; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert J. Murray officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. for viewing and many be viewed at Hale Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today. The family will receive friends at the residence.
