William Frederick Raper, a Civil War veteran, died yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Swann, 1820 East Olney Road, after a lingering illness. Mr. Raper, who had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 42 years, survived his wife by but five days. Mrs. Raper passed away here on Sunday. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Swann and Mrs. William G. Ahman; one son, Harry F. Raper; one brother, Charles Raper, of North Carolina; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. *************************************************************************** Capt. William Frederick Raper - Funeral services for Captain Raper will take place from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. William Swann, 1820 Olney Road, this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Howard I. Stewart, D.D., pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. Howard I. Stewart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. The pallbearers were L.A. Chambers, N.F. White, G.E. Wilson, E.F. Martin, M. Artese and F.A. Stevens. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
