A funeral service was held Saturday at New Calvary Baptist Church for Alexander 
Ratliff, 76, of 445 Church street, who died in a local hospital on July 9.

Elder Samuel A. Wilson presided at the rites for the Wadesboro, NC, native who 
lived in Norfolk 40 years and worked as a longshoreman. Burial was in Calvary 
Cemetery under direction of Hale Funeral Home.

Mr. Ratliff was an A.F. and A. Mason as well as a member of local 1248 of the 
International Longshoremen’s Association.

His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hattie Lee Ratliff; four sons, Grover C. 
Ratliff, Royall Ratliff and Alexander Ratliff Jr. of Brooklyn, and Henry Ratliff 
of Baltimore; and a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Overton of Brooklyn.
