A native of Norfolk, he was a son of Benjamin and Mrs. Lizzie Rawls and the widower of Mrs. Nannie Rawls. He was employed at Seaboard Citizens National Bank 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, and its Usher Board 1, David King Bible Class, finance committee, Men's Progressive League, and board of directors of the home for the aged. He was a member of Sons of Norfolk and Lancaster Beneficial Association. Surviving are three sons, George Rawls, Harold Rawls, and Robert Rawls; three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Warren, Mrs. Emma Boykin and Mrs. Mary Allen Chatman; a sister, Mrs. Mary R. Robinson, all of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. The body was taken to Morning Glory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in First Baptist Church, Bute Street, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. P. Simms. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at 748 E. 28th Street.
