He was a native of Norfolk and the widower of Mabel Rayner. He worked as a companion aide and had served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include three sons, Clifton Rayner and Ronald Rayner of Norfolk and Alfred Rayner of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Rudolph Rayner Sr. of Hampton; five sisters, Virginia Williams of Chesapeake, Esther Booker and Joyce Watson of Virginia Beach, Betty Lou Philpotts of Norfolk and Clementine Harris of Margate, Fla.; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Graves Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Melvin Epps Jr. Friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home for services. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
