He was a retired Navy chief petty officer and veteran of World War II naval service. He also retired from the Post Office. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, and its Men’s Progressive Class, and Tidewater Masonic Lodge 106. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Birdie Boone of Nashville, two nieces; and eight nephews. A funeral service was held Monday, October 6, in First Baptist Church, Bute Street, by the Rev. E. Paul Simms. Burial was in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. Hale Funeral Home had charge.
