The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Saturday February 8, 1947

Capt. John Rees, 85, son of the late John and Mary Roach Rees, died at the 
residence, 1807 East Olney Road, yesterday at 5:30 a.m. He is survived by a 
sister, Mrs. Sadie Lang Raby.
He was a native of England and has been a resident of Norfolk most of his life. 
He was a member of the Master, Mates and Pilots Association.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Monday at 
3 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
