Virginian Pilot October 24, 1993

Hope Elizabeth King Reese, age 71, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1993, in her home.
Mrs. Reese was a native of Norfolk, Va., and a Williamsburg resident since 1949. 
She was employed with The Virginia Gazette as a society editor, writer, 
interviewer, photographer, proof reader for over 25 years. She received first 
place in "Editorial" Virginia Press Women Communication Contest in 1985.
Mrs. Reese was a member of Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, past president of 
Woman's Club of Williamsburg. She graduated from Maury High School in 1940. 
After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator until 1942 when she married 
Bill.

She is survived by her husband, W.R. Bill Reese; two daughters, Sandra Reese 
Hoyer of Dover, DE., and Linda Reese Neidermeyer of Lake Oswego, Ore.; a son, 
William J. Reese of Hampton Bays, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Hope E. Reese and 
Alexander D. Reese, both of Southhampton, N.Y,. Elizabeth L. Tortorici of 
Mountain View, CAL., and Jayme K. Tortorici of Portland, ORE.; two sisters, Amy 
King Swindell of Stone Mountain, GA., and Barbara King Bosse of Virginia Beach, 
Va.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Bucktrout Funeral 
Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bruton Parish 
Episcopal Church by Rev. David Tetrault and Rev. Cotesworth Lewis. Burial will 
follow at 1 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. Contributions may be made to the 
American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 323, Williamsburg, Va. 23187.
