Reeves Dies of Injuries At Suez Canal John Samuel Reeves, 61, of 3907 Trevillian Street, Broad Creek Village, deck engineer of the Texas Oil Company tanker Louisiana, died of head injuries after an altercation aboard ship March 30 in Suez, Canal Zone, Egypt. Details of the set to in the tanker's locker room were not available; but it was learned that Reeves died of a cerebral hemorrhage. A native of Birmingham, Ala., he had made his home in the Norfolk section 35 years. Before moving to Broad Creek Village, he resided in Berkley. He had been in the Merchant Marine for many years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Reeves, Sr., and husband of the late Mrs. Myrna A. Harrell Reeves. Surviving are one son, Hartwell D. Reeves, of Broad Creek Village; one sister, Mrs. B. Butcher, of California and nine grandchildren. The body has been brought to the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
