Norfolk - John Hardy Reid, a native of Eureka, NC, died Thursday in his home 
at 2901 Earlscourt Ave.

Mr. Reid had retired as a custodian at Virginia National Bank after 20 
years. He attended Westminster Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Lillie Reid; three daughters, Alvera Harris of 
Wilson, NC, Elviria Cherry of Portsmouth and Yvonne Edwards of Washington 
DC; two sons, Lott Applewhite of Wilson NC, and Bruce Ward of New York; 
three sisters, Helen Coley of Maryland, Glennie Reid of Norfolk and Eleanor 
Compton of Washington DC; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Westminster Baptist Church 
by the Rev. Robert Davis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence. A wake service will be held from 7 to 8 
p.m. today in Graves Funeral Home.
