Reid, 89, of the 2900 block of Myrtle Ave., entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999. She was a native of Norfolk and a lifetime member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk. Miss Reid retired from the Norfolk public school system after teaching home economics for 36 years. She received her bachelor of science degree from Virginia State College, Petersburg, Va., and her master's degree from New York University, New York. She is survived by her brother, William E. Reid of Washington, D.C.; an adopted niece, Audrey Allen and her daughter, Ingrid; a nephew, William E. Reid Jr. of Washington; a friend and caregiver, Elvin D. Reid of Virginia Beach; and numerous cousins. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk, with the Rev. Dr. Cedric Kirkland-Harris and the Rev. Dr. Joseph Dancy officiating. Interment will be at West Point Cemetery , Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
