A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Charles and Daisy Reid and was the husband of Edith Barnes Reid. Mr. Reid was retired from the Officer's Club at Little Creek Amphibious Base. He was a member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 53 years, Edith; two sons, Darryl Reid and his wife, Michelle, Dexter F. Reid and his wife, Kathy; a brother, Charles Reid; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riddick Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Cedric Kirkland-Harris. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be at his residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes American Association, 101 W. Plume St., Norfolk.
