Norfolk - Mary Ellen Remmie, 85, passed away peacefully at home September 4, 2018. 
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Tina 
Van Buskirk. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School. 
She was in the first graduating class of Norfolk Catholic High School. Mary was 
preceded in death by her husband, Lyle A. Remmie. She is survived by her children, 
Linda S. Horan (Bill), Diane E. Sedlak (Paul), Michael J. Remmie (Tracie), Nancy 
L. Evans (Greg), and Randy S. Remmie (Janice); ten grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren. Mary Ellen was a wonderful, loving woman who valued family and her 
faith above all else. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral 
Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 6 to8 p.m. The funeral 
mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Holy Trinity Catholic 
Church. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, 
memorial donations may be made, in her memory, to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
