Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, June 26, 1993 
Thomas Revell Sr., of the 6500 block of Glenoak Drive, a retired horticulturist,
died June 24, 1993, in his residence.

Mr. Revell was born in Harrisville, N.C. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval
Shipyard after 30 years and was also retired from the City of Norfolk, Traffic
Detail. He was a member, deacon and trustee of New Hope Church of God in Christ
and a member of the Sunday School. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a
member of the American Legion. Mr. Revell was widely known for his genius in
creating beauty using nature's tools. In 1965 he was awarded a special citation
from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for his expertise in designing and executing
formal gardens. The communities of Inglenook and Greenhill Farms will sorely
miss the friendly, fatherly figure who gave so much love to people and plants.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Revell; four daughters, Carol Parker and
Odessa Walker, both of Norfolk, Thomasine Harker and Jean Wright of New York
City; one stepdaughter, J. Gilliam Brown of White Plains, N.Y.; one son, Thomas
Revell Jr. of Norfolk; one sister, Lowdusty Boone of Portsmouth; one brother,
Charles Revell of Wilmington, Del.; 43 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in New Hope Church of God in
Christ by Dr. Herman Clark. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Graves Funeral
Home is handling arrangements.
