Reyes, 79, of the 2100 block of Carriage Lane, died Jan. 11, 1997, in Lake Taylor Hospital ``Archie'' was born in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies, and was the son of the late Matthew Reyes and Maude M. Reyes. His sisters, Alix, Elsa, Ianthe, and brother, John, predeceased him. He was a retired insurance agent with W.T. Mason and Co. During World War II he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a co-founder and first secretary of the Tidewater Virginia Chapter of the Munford Point Marine Association. Archie was past president and regional secretary of Holy Name Society at St. Joseph's. A member of Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, he was active as a lector and past member of the senior choir. Survivors include cousins, Gwendolyn Alston of Decatur, Ga., Edna Alleyne of Bronx, N.Y. and Wm. T. Mason Jr. of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 1000 Holt St., Norfolk, by Monsignor Walter Barrett. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery . Hale Funeral Home is in charge.
