NORFOLK - Bertha Lee Boyce Reynolds quietly departed this life on Tuesday, Aug.
14, 2001, in Lake Taylor Hospital, Norfolk.

A native of Edenton, N.C., she was born on June 30, 1929. She was vice president
of the Welfare Rights Organization of Virginia in 1968, and in 1971 became
president. She was on the Legal Aid Board since 1973; president of Tidewater
Park Community as a volunteer; Tidewater Legal Aid representative to the VPLC
Board of Directors; and served on the Social Service and Huntersville Advisory
Board. She was a member of Mount Herman Church of Christ Disciples.

Survivors include her husband, Carey Reynolds Sr.; five children, Lillie Turner,
Darrline Tucker, Carey Reynolds Jr., Minnie McLish, all of Norfolk, and Theodore
Reynolds of Richmond; three sisters, Josephine Hayes Willette Golston and
Carolyn Golston; a brother-in-law, Rafield Reynolds ; two sisters-in-law, Nuna
Mae and Noby Lee Radford; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a
great-aunt, Ida B. Daniels; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday at New Calvary Baptist Church with the
Rev. G.G. Campbell officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Viewing
will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Riddick Funeral Services.
