A certificate of accidental death was given by Dr. R. S. Kight, city coroner, who investigated the death. Two cocks were on the gas jet, one used for lighting purposes and the other connected so a tube could be attached and the gas used for heating purposes. The cock used for lighting was entirely closed and the other was open. Rhea is believed to have accidentally opened the lower cock as he closed the lighted one. He was found by W.S. Newcomer and W.E. Sykes, who had gone up to visit him. They smelt gas coming from his room and forced open the door. Rhea was dead and they notified the police. Rhea was last seen alive on Wednesday afternoon. He had been dead for some time when the body was found. Rhea was a son of J. Marshall Rhea and the late Eliza O. Rhea. He was 32 years old. Besides his father, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. F.D. Nelligar and one brother, Ollie S. Rhea, all of Norfolk. The funeral will be held privately tomorrow at H.D Oliver's Funeral Apartments 610-12 Freemason Street. Services will be conducted by Rev. S.W. Melton of Freemason Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
