Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark July 22, 1931

Mrs. Allie Halstead Rhodes, wife of Samuel Davis Rhodes, and daughter of the 
late Edward J. and Sarah Eliza Livermore Halstead, died at 5:30 o'clock 
yesterday morning at the residence, Botetourt and Freemason Streets.  She was a 
native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. Besides her husband she is survived by 
three daughters, Mrs. Leigh Gordon Sykes and Miss Maude Halstead Rhodes, of 
Norfolk and Mrs. James R. Thompson, of Philadelphia.  Funeral services will be 
held at the above residence tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock, with the Rev. 
Sparks W. Melton, D.D., pastor of the Freemason Street Baptist Church, 
officiating.  Interment will be private in Elmwood Cemetery.  Friends are 
requested to omit flowers.
