Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark December 20, 1912

Mrs. Mary J. Rhodes, widow of Jesse McCoy Rhodes, died at her residence, 345 
Thirteenth Street, at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after a brief illness, 
in the seventieth year of her age. She is survived by a son, Captain Henry B. 
Rhodes and a daughter, Mrs. Annie B. Bateman.  The funeral will be announced 
later.

The funeral of Mrs. Mary J. Rhodes, widow of Jesse Rhodes, will be held at her 
late residence, 345 Thirteenth Street at 2 o'clock this afternoon. The service 
will be conducted by Rev. Thomas A. Smoot, D.D., of Epworth M.E. Church, of 
which she was a member.  The interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
