Nathaniel Richards and daughter of Capt. John and Mary Jane Ballance, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 1:55 o’clock after a short illness. She was a native of Currituck County, North Carolina; later a resident of Mathews County, Virginia, and for the past 10 years had spent the better part of her time with her foster daughter, Mrs. Walter E. Williamson, Sr., 720 Thirty-sixth street. Mrs. Richards is survived by four sisters, Mrs. A. B. Snowden and Mrs. Florence O’Neal, both of Maple, NC; Mrs. Mamie Wilson, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. W. O. Saunders of Elizabeth City, NC; three brothers, H. M. and J. W. Ballance, of Elizabeth City, NC, and John W. Ballance, of Maple, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Richards was a member of the Rehobeth Baptist Church at Maple. Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, Thirty-fifth street at Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. Henry W. Tiffany, D.D., pastor of the Park Place Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
