The Virginian-Pilot, Friday, June 28, 1974

NORFOLK - Mrs. Catherine Ricks of 1529 W. 38th St., the widow of Abe Richs, died 
Thursday in a hospital.

A native of Norfolk, she was a member of Union Chapel AME Church, St. Julian 
Avenue.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Maggie Richarson, Mrs. Emma Johnson, Mrs. 
Ruth Jones, Miss Annie Ricks, and Miss Estella Ricks of Norfolk, and Mrs. Thelma 
Gainer of Trenton, N.J.; two sons, Abe C. Ricks and William Ricks of Norfolk; 
two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Lee of Baltimore and Mrs. Viola Edwards of Norfolk; a 
brother, James Williams of Petersburg; and 14 grandchildren.

The body was taken to Hale Funeral Home.
