Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, August 27, 1998 
Edward Lee Ricks of the 1000 block of Mapole Ave. died Aug. 23, 1998.

He was born in Norfolk to the late Amos and Frances Ricks. He was a member of
St. Luke Holiness Church of Christ Disciples, where he was a member of the
Deacon Board. Mr. Ricks faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Emma N. Ricks; five daughters, Rosa
Winston, Sharon Hunter, Denise Edwards, Karen Thatch and Dinetta Ricks; four
sons, Charles Smith Jr., Marvin Smith, Edgar Smith and Charles Smith; 28
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in St. Luke Holiness Church of Christ
Disciples by Bishop Allie Mae Hall. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The
family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be held from 2 to 8
p.m. today at Riddick Funeral Home.
