Mr. Ricks was born on Dec. 29, 1913 to the late Abraham and Lucy Ricks. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility. He was predeceased by his wife, Olivia Thomas Ricks and six children. Mr. Ricks was a faithful member and deacon at New St. Mark Baptist Church in Norfolk. He also served as Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He is survived by a daughter, Sarah Newsome and six sons, Paul W. Ricks, Rudolf Ricks, Alfred Ricks, Aubrey Ricks, Larry Ricks and Maurice Ricks. He also leaves to mourn four daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and a host of relatives and friends. A homegoing service will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at New St. Mark Baptist Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery . The family will be at the home of Sarah and Billy Newsome, 2215 Courtney Ave., Norfolk. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
