Norfolk Journal and Guide, Sep 3,1938
Samuel Riddick, 28, of 627 Cumberland St. died in a local hospital,  August 19 
and his funeral was held at the grave in Calvary Cemetery on August 22.  He 
was a native of North Carolina and ws a seaman in the merchant marine service.  
He had lived here for ten years.  The Rev. W. A. Callender, white, chaplain of 
the the United States Navy, officiated.
