Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark December 25, 1928

             J. T. RILEY, U.S.N. RETIRED, SUCCOMBS TO LONG ILLNESS

John T. Riley, U.S. Navy, retired, for 70 years a resident of Norfolk, died 
yesterday afternoon at 5:10 o'clock at his home, 1503 Holland Avenue, Winona, 
following a long illness. Mr. Riley was 74 years old. He was born in  England, 
but was brought to Norfolk when he was a child of four.
Mr. Riley is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie B. Riley; a daughter, Miss Mary 
Inez Riley; four sons, John T. Riley, Jr., Ralph R. Riley, Constant J. Riley and 
F. Gordon Riley; a sister, Miss Mary C. Riley and three brothers, Michael F. 
Riley, James J. Riley and Patrick J. Riley, all of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's 
Catholic Church and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

December 24th, 1928, at 5:10 o’clock p.m., JOHN T. RILEY, in the 75th year of 
his age.
Funeral services at St. Mary’s Catholic Church TOMORROW (Wednesday) MORNING at 
10 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.
