NORFOLK - Thomas J. Ring, 77, of the 3500 block of Ladd St., died Oct. 15, 2002, 
in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was the son of the late Daniel and Frances 
Ward, born on May 14, 1925, in St. Augustine, Fla. He was a member of the 
International Longshoreman's Association, Local 1248, for more than 30 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing a special dear, devoted friend, Bertha M. Spence; 
two brothers, Johnny Lee Ward, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Daniel Ward Jr., of 
Norfolk; four sisters, Grace Dennis, Viola Ward, Delois William, and Margaret 
Forbes, of St. Augustine; two step-daughters, Ivory Powell and Diane Timber; a 
special granddaughter, Tonya; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other 
relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic 
Cemetery, Church and Granby streets, Norfolk. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby 
Street Chapel, is in charge.
