Mr. Rippard was born in South Norfolk and was a member of Laurel Avenue Gospel Hall in Chesapeake. He retired in 1985 after 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Rippard White of Riva, Md., Angie Rippard Todd of Colerain, N.C., and June Rippard Triplett of Portsmouth; two sons, Stephen Watts Rippard Jr. of Virginia Beach and David Michael Rippard of Chesapeake; three sisters, Isabel Rippard of Chesapeake, Esther Rippard Bradshaw of Virginia Beach and Helen Rippard White of Baltimore; one brother, James Rippard of Chesapeake; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2p.m. Thursday in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by Richard Todd. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home tonight for visitation.
