Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, April 11, 1992 
Van B. Rivers of the 1900 block of Martin Ave., a retired warehouseman and truck
driver, died April 8, 1992, in a hospital.

Mr. Rivers was born in Gastonia, N.C. He had retired from Keaton Transfer &
Storage after 25 years. He was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church and
served on the steward board.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie F. Rivers; four daughters, Virginia R. James,
Margaret R. Patterson and Erlene R. Foster, all of Chesapeake, and Barbara Covel
of New York City; a son, Bennie Rivers of Chesapeake; a stepson, Aubrey Spencer
of Portsmouth; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church
by the Rev. Richard Councill. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The body will
be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
