Pond, in Richmond, yesterday morning after a brief illness. He was a native of Prince George County, and had been a resident of Richmond for the past two years. Mr. Rives was a member and one of the founders of Ghent Methodist Church and was a member of Ruth Lodge 89, A.F. and A.M. He was the son of the late James A. and Mrs. Marion Louisa Pollard Rives, and is survived by two sons, Thomas McDowell Rives, Washington, and James A. Rives, Jr., Norfolk. The body will be brought to Norfolk and taken to the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover avenue, at Manteo street, for funeral services Wednesday at a time to be announced later. The Rev. W.P. Watkins, pastor of Ghent Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
